Individual Vehicle Approval: Imports, Caravans, Converted Vehicles
An imported vehicle or a caravan without paperwork cannot be registered in Greece while it falls outside any valid type approval. Individual approval is one of the hardest procedures in the field, governed by scattered and unusual legislation. The office gives an opinion on whether the case stands and, where it proceeds, guides it together with its partners.

Why it is hard
Individual approval has no single route. The provisions are scattered: Regulation (EU) 2018/858, national rules for vehicles outside type approval, separate rules for imports from non-EU countries, for converted vehicles and for individually constructed ones. Documents that suffice in the country of origin may mean nothing here. What is decided at the start, which provision, which technical service, which tests, determines whether the case will close or stall.

When is individual approval needed?
When the vehicle is not covered by a valid type approval and therefore cannot be registered. Typical cases are vehicles imported from third countries, caravans and motorhomes without complete documents, vehicles of special construction and vehicles with substantial modifications. Individual approval follows Regulation (EU) 2018/858. Whether it applies to yours, we judge from its documents and condition.
Can a caravan with no papers be registered?
In some cases. Send us photos and any document there is.
How long does it take?
It depends on the vehicle and on the competent authority. We do not promise dates that are not in our hands; we keep you informed at every step.
How much does it cost?
Every case is different and may require extensive research. We recommend a review of the full file and a separate assessment of your matter.

Kit car, replica or rebuilt passenger car. Can it be registered?
We handle these cases too. Their registration follows a special procedure. Given the technical and legal complexity, this requires a specialised mechanical engineer. Send us photos and the vehicle’s documents for assessment.
