Type Approval Notification and TAO Registration in Greece
A type approval on its own is not enough to register a vehicle in Greece. It has to be notified to the competent authority, and its technical characteristics recorded in the Technical Vehicle Archive (TAO) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The office takes on the whole dossier.

Who handles type approval notification and TAO registration in Greece?

Registration is blocked because the type is not in the TAO. What do I do?
It means the vehicle's type approval has not been notified to the competent authority and its technical data have not been entered in the Vehicle Technical Archive (TAO) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Without that entry the vehicle cannot be registered. The remedy is the type-approval notification certificate; send us the CoC and the type approval and we tell you what is missing.
What is the TAO?
The Vehicle Technical Archive (TAO) is the type approval information system of the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Regional transport directorates take the vehicle’s technical data from it at registration. If the type is not recorded, the registration certificate is not issued.
What is the type approval notification certificate?
It is the act of the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport that notifies that an approved vehicle type may be registered in Greece; its data are entered in the TAO. It is not a new type approval. Requirements differ by category and by case, so the file calls for specialist expertise and experience.
I already have a CoC. Is that not enough?
Not always. The CoC confirms that the specific vehicle conforms to the approved type. For registration, however, the type itself must be in the TAO. If it is not, a notification certificate is needed first.
How long does it take?
It depends on the vehicle and on the competent authority. We do not promise dates that are not in our hands; we keep you informed at every step.
How much does it cost?
Every case is different and may require extensive research. We recommend a review of the full file and a separate assessment of your matter.
